Love in a Vice

your cynicism endears me

to your sarcastic wit

but, darling, it’s your charm

that stains my spirit

wrapped in your arms

love from me is squeezed

I thought I heard I love you

but it was just a sneeze

I drink from your fountain

rancid elixir of lust

and though I melt in your eyes

I’d rather be lost in your bust

despite your whining voice,

and its music to my ears

I somehow fall asleep

and escape love’s nightmare

through it all I know you’re true

your love for me is strong

and though it’s never happened before

I guess I could be wrong
